How Mimecast stops phishing threats.

Mimecast Targeted Threat Protection provides two forms of defenses against a phishing or spear-phishing attack.

  • URL Protect wards off phishing threats by rewriting URLs in all inbound email. When a user clicks on a link in an email, Mimecast scans the destination website for potential risks before opening the site in the browser. Safe sites open as normal, while suspicious sites cause a warning to be displayed and access to the website is blocked. Mimecast scans links on every click to protect against the risk of a legitimate site being compromised at a later date.
  • Attachment Protect automatically checks email attachments before they are delivered to employees, opening them in a virtual environment or sandbox to isolate them from your email system. If they pose no threat, attachments can be passed on to your employees. Attachment Protect also includes the option of automatically converting attachments into a safe file format that neutralizes any malicious code or phishing threats.
