Web security is a service from Mimecast that blocks access to malicious websites and enforces Acceptable Use Policies. It allows or blocks access to websites by providing a DNS resolver service and applying an organization’s specific security policies to each DNS request.
Many cyberattacks use the web and DNS to deliver malicious payloads, communicate with Command and Control systems and exfiltrate data from victim organizations. Most organizations do not monitor or block DNS traffic and are thus operating blind to this attack vector as a result.
Organizations that have attempted to block access to malicious or inappropriate sites, often use on-premises firewalls, Unified Threat Management (UTM) systems or various other types of web appliances. All of which can be costly to acquire, operate and maintain.
Mimecast Web Security:
Administered via a single administrative console that supports both email and web security.
Protects users whether they are on or off the organization’s network.
Blocks access to both policy-violating and malicious web sites by providing a DNS resolver service with built-in security controls.
Delivers comprehensive historical web access audit logging.
Hosted in globally-distributed datacenters providing minimal latency and high performance and reliability.
Enables fast deployment: often configured and deployed in less than 60 minutes.
