In 2018, Mimecast formally launched our corporate social responsibility program which enshrined our commitment to strengthening resilience in the communities in which we work and live. Three years later, we’re proud of the progress we’ve made in fulfilling that promise.
Year Up, a key non-profit partner of ours in the U.S., is dedicated to the empowerment of urban young adults to rise to their full potential through workforce development and internship opportunities. Initially, our partnership with Year Up focused on the following areas:
- Upskilling Year Up students on key professional skills, such as networking and interviewing, which impacted over 100 students
- Engaging in leadership speaking events to provide insight into career progression of some of our own executives
- Engaging with Year Up’s comprehensive mentorship program with our employees
This multi-pronged approach to our partnership aligned Year Up’s mission with our organizational belief that the development of a diverse talent pipeline both strengthens the health of our communities while also creating significant value to businesses.
We were excited to add a new dimension to our collaboration with the implementation of Year Up’s internship program at Mimecast in 2020. To date, we have hosted ten students with our Lexington office to provide six months of on-the-job training across Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Engineering, Customer Support, and Quality Assurance.
While scaling our partnership with Year Up, we have also continued to grow our corporate charitable contributions. Since 2018, with the support of the Boston Foundation, we have provided more than $100,000 USD in charitable funding (non-inclusive of payment for participation in the Year Up internship program). Mimecast showcased the endless possibilities that the cybersecurity industry has if we’re able to bridge the opportunity divide by bringing Year Up CEO and Founder, Gerald Chertavian, to speak at our virtual Cyber Resilience Summit in 2020.
We’re proud of the work we have done to support Year Up and the critical services they provide to their students and look forward to building upon this foundation in 2021.
