Mayflower Group protects patient data by securing email
Small healthcare team safeguards over 600 staff and residents from email-based threats
Mayflower Group is a not-for-profit organization that has provided care services to older Australians for over 60 years. ICT Manager Michael Whyte emphasizes that protecting resident and staff data is critical to their operations, particularly because healthcare workers, while excellent at patient care, may not always be tech-savvy when it comes to cybersecurity threats.
Email security is especially important since healthcare organizations handle highly sensitive data that cybercriminals actively target, with medical records selling for up to 10 times more than credit card information on the dark web. With a small IT team of just four people supporting over 600 healthcare workers, Michael relies on Mimecast to manage human risk effectively. The platform has helped Mayflower staff become more security conscious.
“Having a partner like Mimecast that is focused on the human element is so important right now,” Michael says. “With Mimecast, I get messaging that I can literally cut and paste into emails that I send to our employees.”
