Mimecast®, a leading supplier of cloud-based email security, continuity and archiving, today announced the results of a partnership that automated the Pump Solutions Group’s (PSG) email archiving and compliance and enhanced the company’s anti-virus, anti-spam and business continuity practices.
A division of Dover Corporation, PSG became unsatisfied with its on-premise IT environment in 2009 because of limited functionality and the need for the company to devote a server specifically to support its email management appliances. In addition, the system did not include centrally managed email archiving or compliance measures, meaning the company was forced to rely on employees to abide by import and export recordkeeping laws. This led to inconsistent compliance and a painfully slow message retrieval process that required an IT worker to manually search for messages. This scenario proved to be overly onerous from both a cost and maintenance standpoint, leading PSG’s IT staff to seek alternatives.

Rountree reports that Mimecast services have exceeded his expectations. Taking into account the actual cost of the Mimecast service plus savings in hardware, IT staff time and avoided consulting time, PSG estimates that it has reduced the cost of email services by 30 percent.

Prior to having Mimecast, it would take PSG’s staff an average of four hours to find an archived email. Now, the users themselves can retrieve email in just seconds. Even if a user deletes an email from their inbox, it’s archived in Mimecast.

Mimecast has a 100% service availability SLA, which means that employee workflows are not interrupted in the event of planned or unplanned outages and can continue to work as normal in Outlook while Mimecast keeps email flowing.

PSG has offices around the world and many don’t have on-site IT staff. Mimecast significantly reduced the time that PSG’s 12-15 other IT pros spent on email management. Now, just one person centrally manages email services.
