Mimecast Tapped as Cleveland Indians’ Email Management Solutions Provider

    Cloud-based email management service saves MLB team 120 hours of IT staff time annually

Mimecast’s cloud-based Unified Email Management (UEM) solution will save the team 120 hours of IT staff time per year, ensuring that the organization’s Microsoft Exchange email platform runs smoothly with little drain on IT resources.
     
    Email is crucial to the Cleveland Indians, and is tied into nearly every aspect of the business from baseball operations to ticket sales. However, with a small IT staff, email inbox limits were strictly enforced to simplify backup needs and keep storage costs low. The team sought an email archiving solution to handle the growing email volume and Personal Storage Table (PST) files that threatened the stability of the organization’s email infrastructure and staff productivity. 

    Due to its tight integration with Microsoft Exchange and proven performance, Mimecast was chosen to implement an email archiving solution to eliminate the need for PST files; replace an aging anti-spam/anti-virus appliance; and add email continuity to ensure 100 percent uptime. These efforts resulted in time gained for IT staff, secure messaging and access to email even during a service provider outage that typically takes servers offline. As a result, the IT organization can mitigate the crippling effects of email downtime.

    The outcome speaks for itself: in addition to achieving all of the initial objectives, Mimecast enabled the team to retire five servers. This offers users the ability to search through years of email in seconds with the Mimecast archiving solution. The simple deployment means a seamless transition for the organization’s users.
