“Business as Usual” Becomes Usual as a Financial Services Group Banks on Mimecast
- Email Security, DMARC Analyzer, Continuity, Large File Send, Secure Messaging
- The organisation’s cybersecurity team needed email protection that went beyond just the technology required to catch threats. They were looking for a true partner that would offer unparalleled levels of support.
- Defence against an increase in COVID-19 related phishing attempts
- Ability to easily manage the email accounts for thousands of remote workers
- On demand support to ensure email communications are constantly up and running
For one South African financial services group, cybersecurity is about more than keeping customer banking data safe. It’s about building a relationship with partners like Mimecast.
“I could choose the best security organisation in the world, but if it fails, our email communications would be inaccessible,” says a senior cybersecurity team member at the company. “Mimecast makes sure we’re always getting the right level of support to maintain business as usual.”
When it came time for the organisation’s cybersecurity team to search for a more robust email protection platform, the cybersecurity team member looked for vendors that would embody what it truly means to be a partner. “It’s not just about bringing technology into our organisation, installing it and walking away,” he says. “I look for partners that will work with us to tweak policies and really help us use the solution to meet our organisation’s demands.”
On top of that, he wanted a partner that understood the part of the world in which they operate. “A lot of global vendors don’t have a strong footprint in our specific region and don’t always have the proper skills,” says the cybersecurity operations team member. “We end up having to contract additional resources or work across time zones, which can be challenging. Mimecast has a large and growing footprint in South Africa that meets our needs.”
For the organisation’s cybersecurity operations team, Mimecast’s real differentiator is its level of support. “They’re always able to answer our questions. If I reach out, I get quick responses every time,” they say. “And the people I talk to have the knowledge and experience to understand and solve our challenges.”
The team quickly saw Mimecast’s swift reaction time in action soon after adoption. “We had an experience where some emails weren’t being delivered. Within an hour or two, Mimecast had the issue resolved,” notes the cybersecurity team member. “In a separate incident, where Mimecast wasn’t involved, it took days to fix a minor problem.”
The high level of support has remained the same throughout the organisation’s cybersecurity journey with Mimecast. “We have partners within Mimecast that work very closely with us to understand and analyse trends, what we’re seeing, and how we can get the most benefit out of the solution,” says the team member. “That goes a long way toward securing the organisation.”
And at a time when malicious attacks are taking aim at the remote workforce, the cybersecurity team member knows that the proper security measures are in place to keep the organisation’s email infrastructure safe – whether he’s in the office or monitoring systems from home.
“It all comes back to the fact that I’m looking for that true partnership, thought leadership and a vendor that will really walk the journey with us,” he says. “Mimecast has done just that.”
“It’s not just about bringing technology into our organisation, installing it and walking away. I look for partners that will work with us to tweak policies and really help us use the solution to meet our organisation’s demands.”
