Mimecast Expands U.S. Legal Customer Base by 30 Percent

Law firms turn to Mimecast to build a secure business continuity strategy, reduce costs and boost customer satisfaction

Washington D.C. - ILTA Booth #600 -  Mimecast, the leading supplier of cloud-based email archiving, security and continuity for Microsoft Exchange and Office 365, today announced explosive growth within the legal community and a 30 percent  expansion of its U.S. legal customer base in the last year. Over 183,000 legal employees worldwide now rely on Mimecast’s cloud-based email management solution for security, eDiscovery and business continuity, removing complexity, cost and risk for CIOs, and increasing productivity for their email users.

Law firms working with Mimecast within the U.S. now account for over 44 percent of all of the company’s legal customers, with organizations including McNair Law Firm, Tonkon Torp and Jones Waldo.  This growth in legal customers within the U.S. shows that law firms are increasingly adopting cloud technologies to support a business continuity strategy, streamlining eDiscovery as well as ensuring email security.

“Our business’ success and credibility heavily depends on our ability to communicate with clients within a secure environment,” said Mike Kirton, Director of Technology, McNair Law Firm. “If our email goes down, we lose that critical connection with our clients, our productivity is lowered and we significantly risk damaging our reputation. We trusted Mimecast would help our firm proactively build a secure email continuity strategy that made sense for our organization and clients’ needs. By having a cloud-based email management solution in place, our business quickly reduced costs, enhanced our efficiency and improved our value to our customers.”

In addition to lowering time, costs and risks, law firms cite the following benefits in working with Mimecast:

    - Business Continuity: With Email Continuity, legal organizations such as McNair Law Firm gain Mimecast’s 100 percent service availability SLA, uninterrupted access to their email, even during an unexpected system outage or disaster, and are able to consistently provide counsel to their clients.

    - Security: Recent research on the Shape of Email found 55 percent of organizations are still concerned about email-based viruses. Mimecast Email Security helps legal organizations such as Tonkon Torp reduce email-based risks within law firms and offers the tools to drive employee productivity, give more control to end-users and provide more visibility of email security to the IT department.

    - Mobile Access: Mimecast enables legal organizations to easily and securely transition to bring your own device (BYOD) businesses and offers secure email archive Mobile Access on all platforms including iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and BlackBerry.

“There’s absolutely no room for excuses – legal organizations need to be always on,” said Peter Bauer, CEO of Mimecast. “Whether legal employees are accessing their email within the office or from a mobile device, a law firm’s productivity and effectiveness depends on secure and available email access all the time. Our continued success within the legal industry demonstrates our commitment to providing legal organizations with the solutions to build a business continuity strategy that can simplify all eDiscovery requests, enhance their business’ efficiency and improve customer satisfaction.”

Mimecast will be at Booth #600 at the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) in Washington D.C., from August 26-30.
