Mike Hedger appointed as non-executive chairman to email management company Mimecast
Mimecast the web-based unified email management company, has announced the appointment of ex-KVS CEO Mike Hedger as non-executive chairman.
Hedger brings with him a wealth of experience in building market-leading companies. He master-minded the growth of email archiving company KVault from its inception in 1999 to its successful sale to Veritas for a sum of $225 million in 2004. His former experience includes a four year stint as EVP worldwide operations at Forte, building the European business before moving on to head up Worldwide Operations and culminating in a successful acquisition by Sun for $700 million. His earlier career included positions as VP Marketing Operations EMEA for Oracle, managing director UK and Northern Europe for INGRES/ASK and successful sales careers at WANG and IBM.
Hedger comments: “Mimecast has already developed a strong and enthusiastic customer base of over one thousand customers for its Software-as-a-Service email management solution. It has experienced growth of 300% year-on-year since it was founded in 2003 and our sights are set on firmly establishing the company as the market leader in the field of unified email management. This includes email archival, security and continuity for an annual fixed cost per user. Our immediate goal is a successful launch into the US market place in January 2008, to complement existing UK, South African and offshore operations in the Caribbean and Channel Islands. Recent analyst reports on SaaS consistently point to email as a key application to move to an outsourced web-based service and we are determined to establish Mimecast at the forefront of this market trend.”
Peter Bauer, CEO of Mimecast added: “We believe that Mike brings a breadth and depth of experience to our company that will equip us well to fulfil our aim of market leadership in the course of the next two years. He has an exceptional talent for understanding market forces and moulding companies around them. We believe that he will be instrumental in accelerating our company’s growth as a global player in web-based email management.”
Mimecast delivers cloud-based email management for Microsoft Exchange, including archiving, continuity and security. By unifying disparate and fragmented email environments into one holistic solution that is always available from the cloud, Mimecast minimizes risk and reduces cost and complexity, while providing total end-to-end control of email. Founded in the United Kingdom in 2003, Mimecast serves approximately 4,000 customers worldwide and has offices in Europe, North America, Africa and the Channel Islands.
