Send secure email through the cloud.
It’s critical for organizations to enable its users to send secure email. Whether it’s confidential information on financial results or mergers, health information, intellectual property or customer data, email with private or sensitive information should always be encrypted or sent securely.
Yet for many users, sending secure emails can be a complex and time-consuming task. Traditional approaches to encrypted messaging often require both the sender and recipient to download data encryption software, or for senders to have knowledge of access keys and encryption methods.
Mimecast Secure Messaging significantly simplifies encryption, enabling users to send secure email quickly and easily while eliminating administrative burden and end user client installation requirements.
Mimecast Secure Messaging offers a cloud-based secure channel that lets organizations send secure email quickly and easily. Messages and attachments never leave the secure Mimecast cloud, enabling users to send secure email even when TLS encryption isn’t an option.
Mimecast enables users to send secure email simply by choosing options for security when composing the email, while administrators can use content controls to ensure that emails containing certain kinds of information are sent via Mimecast’s secure channel. This may include emails sent to a specific domain or when certain keywords appear in the subject line or body text.
Secure messages are scanned for anti-virus, data leaks and compliance policies to help meet requirements for HIPAA, GLBA and PCI-DSS regulations. Mimecast also provides anti-virus and malware protection for all inbound and outbound email.
Mimecast’s encrypted email service, enables users to send secure email.
When users want to send secure email, they simply need to create a new email in Outlook, Mimecast for Mac, or in Mimecast’s Secure Messaging web portal, and then select the Send Secure option. They can then choose security options from a menu that may include requirements for read receipts, message expirations or restrictions on printing and replying.
Once the user clicks Send, the email and attachments are uploaded to the Mimecast cloud where they are scanned for malware, checked against DLP policies and content controls, and stored in a secure AES encrypted archive.
Recipients then receive a notification with instructions for how to login to the Secure Messaging portal, where they can access the message and reply.
