Top international law firm Taylor Wessing turns to Mimecast to save money, increase control and keep a full forensic trail of all email traffic
Leading international law firm Taylor Wessing has chosen Mimecast’s web-based unified email management service to store and manage internal and external emails for 1,200 users in its British, French, German and Belgian offices. The firm originally opted to move to the web-based service eighteen months ago and was so pleased with the service that it has just upgraded it to handle archival of email communications for a ten-year period. According to Tim Hyman, head of IT operations in the UK, “The original decision to move to the Mimecast Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model was because no other vendor could offer the combination of email security with business continuity to deliver always-on email in a single vendor solution. Providing our clients with 24x7 continuous contact via email is fundamental to our business. The Mimecast service enabled us to continue to communicate by email even in power outages or server downtime – whether planned or unexpected.” The recent decision to replace a specialist archival server with the web-based Mimecast archival service allows the firm to further consolidate the number of suppliers and servers for email storage, security and continuity to just one, in a solution that is all Mimecast patented, wholly-owned technology. The legal firm has been able to consolidate all of its email storage, security and continuity requirements with one vendor, conferring significant cost savings both in on-site hardware, software and also maintenance. Another factor for Taylor Wessing was that Mimecast was able to capture all the forensic data about the transmission of emails that is necessary to be admissible as evidence in court in a manner that is completely tamper-proof. According to Hyman, “The incumbent archival server was originally due to last for five years but - due to the magnitude and growth of email traffic - we have outgrown it in just two years. The Mimecast system allows us to offload all the hassle of capacity planning for the next ten years of storage without sacrificing any of the control; as we can search, retrieve and manage all emails from our desktop.”
Mimecast delivers cloud-based email management for Microsoft Exchange, including archiving, continuity and security. By unifying disparate and fragmented email environments into one holistic solution that is always available from the cloud, Mimecast minimizes risk and reduces cost and complexity, while providing total end-to-end control of email. Founded in the United Kingdom in 2003, Mimecast serves approximately 4,000 customers worldwide and has offices in Europe, North America, Africa and the Channel Islands.
