Mimecast Names Executive Team to Accelerate Expansion in North America
Enterprise Adoption of SaaS-based Email Management Drives Growth of Global Leader in Email Archiving, Continuity and Security
Mimecast, a rapidly growing Software as a Service (SaaS) company providing unified email archiving, continuity and security, has announced its new executive team to lead the company’s expansion into North America. This experienced team includes MaryKay Roberto, Senior Vice President and General Manager; Eric Odell, Vice President of Marketing; David R. Sunderland, Director of Finance; and William Zuckermann, Vice President of Sales.
Founded in 2002 in the United Kingdom, Mimecast now delivers to the US market a holistic approach for managing the risk and complexity of the email management environment – an integrated in-the-cloud solution for archiving, continuity and security of corporate communication and data. Built on a technology architecture specifically for SaaS, Mimecast makes email more useful and productive, removes the fragmented stacks of point solutions, delivers enterprise-grade software services and empties server rooms to facilitate green IT environments.
According to Gartner, “Email will be among the applications that lead the way to mainstream adoption of the SaaS model. Driven by falling prices and new vendors, the percentage of enterprise mailboxes using the SaaS model is expected to grow from 1 percent of enterprises seats in 2007, to 20 percent in 2012, an almost unprecedented rate of change.” 1
Leading Mimecast’s North America expansion is Mary Kay Roberto who has been involved in building start-up software companies for 17 years. Most recently, she has held several positions in archiving and electronic discovery. For five years, she served as General Manager of KVS, Inc., building the North American presence for the UK based company from US inception through a successful acquisition by Veritas/Symantec. Following KVS, Mary Kay was Vice President of Sales at MetaLINCS, Inc. where she established and built the initial customer base.
Eric Odell, Vice President of Marketing for Mimecast North America, brings more than 20 years experience developing marketing strategies to grow start-up companies. Previously he was Senior Vice President of Marketing for Teamstudio and Vice President of Marketing at Spiritsoft, two Boston-area companies, which experienced significant revenue and customer growth under his direction. Eric will focus on building awareness of the Mimecast brand in the email management space and working alongside the sales team to drive revenue growth.
Mimecast’s Director of North American Finance, Dave Sunderland, brings over two decades of multi-national financial management experience to the team. Most recently Director of Financial Operations for Fast Search & Transfer, Inc., he has held financial and consulting positions spanning technology, healthcare, apparel & fashion and the environmental services industries including positions with Dawson International PLC and Waste Management, Inc.
William Zuckermann, Vice President of Sales for North America, has more than 10 years of experience in sales and sales management. He joined Mimecast UK as sales director in September 2004 before moving to the North American office in January 2008. His role focuses on developing and driving the sales strategy to acquire new customers and deliver rapid growth in the region. Prior to joining Mimecast, Zuckermann worked for several IT security and networking businesses in the US market.
Peter Bauer, chief executive officer of Mimecast, said, “MaryKay, Eric, David and Will each have a tremendous track record of successfully growing innovative start-ups into leaders in their industries. Their guidance will expand Mimecast as a SaaS leader in North America and accelerate our growth in the burgeoning email management market.”
