Send secure emails with Mimecast.
The ability to send secure emails is critical to protecting your users and organization from a broad range ofemail security risks. Users frequently need to send secure emails in order to share sensitive information about customers, financials and intellectual property with contacts outside the organization. Yet traditional email encryption options are often cumbersome, creating administrative burden or requiring recipients to download and install software to receive encrypted email.
Mimecast Secure Messaging makes it easy to send secure emails without requiring users to manage certificates or encryption keys and without any end user client installation requirements. With Mimecast, messages and attachments never leave Mimecast's secure messaging platform, heightening security while enabling users to initiate secure emails from within their standard mailbox application.
To send secure emails with Mimecast Secure Messaging, users simply create a new email as usual and before sending, click the Send Secure option within the Mimecast tab in Outlook or Mimecast for Mac. Users may also choose from several secure email options to require read receipts, set message expiration dates, and prevent recipients from printing or replying to the message, if desired.
Once the user presses Send, the message and any attachments are securely uploaded to the Mimecast cloud and scanned for malware. Messages can also be checked against content control and data leak prevention policies to ensure compliance with regulations such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS and GLBA. Messages and attachments are then stored in a secure AES encrypted archive.
Recipients receive a notice informing them of the secure email or secure document exchange, along with instructions for logging onto the Mimecast secure web portal. From the portal, recipients can retrieve messages and attachments, and send secure emails and documents back to the user.
Mimecast Secure Messaging also enables administrators to define policies to automatically secure emails when messages meet specific criteria. For example, messages sent to a specific recipient or a particular domain or messages that include certain keywords such as "confidential" in the subject line may be automatically sent via secure channels.
