When your users share sensitive data via email secure email encryption technology is a must. Email encryption services can help to protect data such as customer records, financials, intellectual property and other documents that are often shared through email with collaborators and partners outside the organization.
To ensure adoption, your secure email encryption solution should be intuitive and simple to use. Traditional encryption options such as enforced server-to-server Transport Layer Security (TLS) or Public Key Infrastructure often create extra administrative burden or require recipients to download software. Consequently, secure email encryption isn't always employed when it should be, exposing sensitive information to greater risk.
Mimecast addresses this challenge with a powerful but easy-to-use email encryption service. Mimecast Secure Messaging offers a user-friendly, cloud-based secure email encryption channel for sending and receiving sensitive data through email.
Mimecast Secure Messaging protects sensitive data by making it easy for users to send and receive secure messages, and enabling policy-initiated secure messages at the email encryption gateway for an added layer of security.
To send a message with secure email encryption or to send encrypted files, users simply create a new email in Outlook, add desired attachments, and then click on the Send Secure option on the Mimecast tab. Messages can also be sent from Mimecast for Mac or through the secure messaging web portal.
Before sending the message, users can choose to require read receipts, set an expiration on reading permissions, and restrict recipients from printing and or replying to the message.
Once the email is sent, it is uploaded to the Mimecast cloud and checked for malware as well as compliance with content control and data leak prevention (DLP) policies. Messages and attachments are then stored in a secure AES encrypted archive.
Next, message recipients receive notification with instructions for how to log onto Mimecast's secure web portal where they can read and reply to messages and download attachments.
