Protect sensitive information with an encryption email service.
An encryption email service is a vital part of IT security for every organization sharing valuable data via email. From intellectual property and financials to customer data and healthcare records, often data must be sent with secure email encryption to prevent exposure of highly sensitive information and to meet certain compliance standards.
Yet many encryption email service solutions are difficult to use and complex to manage, adding additional administrative burden to users and administrators. Many email encryption services require recipients to download software or users to be able to manage certificates and encryption keys. To ensure protection for sensitive data, organizations need an encryption email service that is easy to use and can automatically encrypt email and attachments when needed.
Mimecast Secure Messaging offers a user-friendly, secure channel for sending and receiving sensitive information via email, with no installation requirements for end-users and no additional administrative burden.
To initiate Mimecast's encryption email service, users simply click Send Secure on the Mimecast tab within Mimecast for Outlook, Mimecast for Mac or Mimecast Secure Messaging web portal. They also have the option of selecting controls such as read receipts, message expiration dates, and restrictions for printing, replying or forwarding.
Once the user presses Send, Mimecast's encryption email service uploads the email and any attachments to the secure Mimecast cloud. Each message is scanned for malware and checked for compliance with data leak prevention policies before being stored in a secure AES encrypted archive. The message recipient receives an email with instructions for how to log onto Mimecast secure web portal to retrieve the message and download attachments.
