CryptoLocker prevention with Mimecast
A CryptoLocker attack involves one of many strains of the crypto virus, a form of ransomware that encrypts files on a compromised computer and demands that the user pay a ransom in order to regain access to their data. The virus typically presents itself as a malicious email attachment that resembles an invoice, shipping notice, a fax report or an Office document. When the user opens the attachment or clicks on a link in the email, the virus initiates a file that encrypts a large number of documents on the computer's hard drive or on network servers and other storage devices.
