How Mimecast makes sending secure emails easy.
When sending secure emails with Mimecast Secure Messaging, the user creates a new email as usual and then selects the Send Secure option within Outlook, Mimecast for Mac or within the Secure Messaging web portal. The user can then choose from an administrator-defined list of options for security, including read receipts, expiration and other restrictions.
Once the user clicks Send, the email and attachments are securely uploaded to the Mimecast cloud, scanned for malware and checked against policies for content control and data leak prevention before being stored in a secure and encrypted archive. A notification message is then sent to the recipient, who can log into the secure messaging portal to read and reply to the secure message.
In addition to tools for sending secure emails, Mimecast offers solutions that enable employees to transfer large files from their inbox, removing mailbox size limitations of third-party file sharing services that compromise email security.
