Simplify GDPR compliance with Mimecast's data protection solutions
The European Union's new data privacy regulations are prompting organizations everywhere to look for new data protection solutions.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016/679 requires companies that acquire information about EU residents to make that information available to residents upon request. Companies must specifically get a resident's consent to collect, process and store personal information. And organizations must also be able to erase or eliminate that information when a resident withdraws consent. Organizations that don't comply with GDPR requirements face significant fines – more than £20 million or 4% of yearly worldwide revenue, whichever is greater.
To ensure GDPR compliance, organizations need data protection solutions that can protect personal information from potential security breaches. New data protection solutions must also simplify archiving, search and management of personal information. And with the deadline for implementation of GDPR privacy laws set for May 2018, organizations will need data protection solutions that can be quickly deployed and that will help to reduce the expense and complexity of managing compliance.
