Mitigate risk while moving to the cloud.
If there’s one thing IT professionals can agree on, it’s that the cloud is impacting every aspect of their business. As a result, email is undergoing a fundamental shift as organizations transition from on-premises to the cloud. The move to Office 365 is a prime example of this shift.
But even as organizations recognize the benefits of moving to Office 365, moving to the cloud brings with it a new set of risks that need to be mitigated along with the standard threats to email like spam, malware, spear-phishing, ransomware and impersonation attacks.
Mimecast commissioned research firm, Vanson Bourne, to explore the adoption of Office 365 and identify the challenges of more than 600 business and IT leaders.
- 88% of respondents rate email availability as being critical to their organization
- 40% consider spam and malware protection and risk of email service disruption/outage to be a high concern
- 91% will use third parties to augment built-in Office 365 capabilities in some way
- 9 out of 10 of those that have been impacted by an email outage have experienced at least one in the last 24 months
Given the critical nature of email and the inherent security risks associated with Office 365 email, it’s no wonder 73% of the respondents believe that their organization still needs to build additional security protections around their Office 365 email.
