Cloud Mathematics – two to the power of ten

11 May 2010 - Johannesburg - Data security company, J2 Software has brought Mimecast’s cloud-based Unified Email Management (UEM) solution to ten businesses in less than a year as a preferred partner with more than double this number in the sales pipeline.
J2 Software’s strategy for growing its Mimecast annuity business began with a focus on their client base’s immediate issues of email continuity and data compliance.
“Our clients need their IT systems to work, and work all the time,” says Mc Loughlin. “Any amount of downtime means lost business and lost revenue and this is particularly true for email. Mimecast provides complete email continuity, which in a small business could almost be considered a complete business continuity solution.”
Within a week of implementing Mimecast at a long-standing client, Ebusiness Infrastructure Solutions in Johannesburg, the mail server failed. “We were down for the better part of a day and a half during a very hectic business week,” says Ebis managing director, Kimmo Heldan.
“Mimecast came to the rescue and we were able to send and receive emails while the techies sorted out the hardware issues. During a similar incident a few years ago, we were down for several days and lost, not only mails, but also money and possibly customer satisfaction and credibility in the process. Our success with Mimecast can be directly attributed to J2 Software and the company’s professional handling of our account,” says Heldan.
J2 Software is about securing data and in the case of Ebis, that’s exactly what we did. Now that Mimecast forms part of our portfolio of services we offer clients 360 degree information protection.” Says Mc Loughlin.
“Sorting out compliance headaches is another area where J2 Software and Mimecast have really made a difference to clients,” says Mc Loughlin. “The requirements laid out in King III effect all companies, listed or not, but unfortunately smaller businesses have limited resources and can’t implement extensive data archiving and retrieval solutions. By implementing Mimecast we take care of the whole email compliance problem in one simple, affordable and easy way.”
“Globally, Mimecast focuses on solving data compliance issues at several levels from the length of time a message needs to be archived to protecting the chains of custody to ensure that emails can not be tampered with. Therefore, Mimecast UEM’s ability to completely support the requirements laid out in King III is no exception. It is great to see a partner such as J2 Software playing such a key role in educating customers about their mandate under this new complex framework, and solving the problem at the same time,” says Grant Hodgkinson, channel and alliances manager at Mimecast South Africa.
“The success of the partnership with Mimecast’s commitment to supporting our client engagement process coupled with our ability to match the UEM platform, which protects organisations from data loss, email down time and spam with businesses that have an absolute need for the product,” concludes McLoughin.
