The Register: Mimecast and the death of the fileserver
Posted on 25 March 2009 by
Chris Mellor, one of Europe's leading storage journalists, interviewed Mimecast's CTO Neil Murray for an article in The Register today.
In the interview Neil outlines the future plans for our grid-based cloud storage platform and discusses some of the drivers for the design decisions made.
As Chris sicinctly puts it Mimecast will soon have "a single, multi-tenant-aware repository, that single instances file-level content and provides search, backup, restoration, archiving, compliance and general document management services in the cloud across the email, file and SharePoint domains".
Chris goes on to provide interesting insight into how Mimecast's future product development will impact on traditional on-premise file servers and appliances, predicting the potential demise of the venerable file server.
