Archive files from across your organization

• Networked File Storage
  Files, folders or even entire directories stored on networked Home Drives (e.g. My Documents) and Document Libraries or regular Network Shares can be archived.
• Microsoft SharePoint
  Document libraries, List Items and List Items with attachments can all be archived to Mimecast.  SharePoint metadata is also archived alongside files, so it is fully indexed and searchable.
• Cloud providers - Dropbox and Box
  Archiving from cloud providers such as Dropbox and Box is included free with File Archiving.  Users are given a Mimecast folder inside their Dropbox or Box accounts.  Any files stored in this folder are automatically archived every day

Seamless end user access

Users can access their files no matter where they are.  We have applications specifically designed for Outlook, iPad and the web.  Finding, viewing and downloading files is straightforward thanks to our comprehensive archive search facility.

Automated Collection of Files

Files can be collected and archived from Sharepoint, network drives, and home directories automatically, according to your requirements.   Granular policies and custom schedules can be configured to run automatically at times that suit you.

Files can also be archived based on file attributes such as file size, file type, created date, last accessed date, and last modified date, adding further control to the administrator when configuring automated archive tasks.

File Archive Dashboard

A dedicated dashboard that provides a single location to perform all file archive tasks as well the ability to view file archive usage data such as total data archived by date and by source, and all users with cloud archive enabled along with their current status.

Full text search

All files stored are indexed so that document content is searchable.  Our scalable cloud infrastructure lets users run sophisticated full text queries and get results in less than a second.  A comprehensive series of search filters enables users to find the exact files they are looking for.

Self-service file recovery

Cloud Archiving

• Enable Dropbox and Box archiving through the intuitive administrator web application.
• Ask users to configure Mimecast to access their Dropbox and Box accounts.  This is a simple two-click process done through the Mimecast Personal Portal.
• A ‘Mimecast folder’ is created in each users Dropbox and Box accounts
• Any files put in this folder are archived daily

Archiving from Home Directories and Network Shares

• Install the Mimecast Services for Exchange (MSE).  This is a simple wizard driven installation.  We recommend a separate installation of MSE for File Archiving.
• Configure MSE tasks that specify the types of files to be archived, including file attributes, and their locations.
• Specify an appropriate schedule for how often you would like these archiving tasks to run.
• Monitor progress through our Administrator Console web application.
• Allocate file access and viewing privileges using Active Directory groups

Archiving Document Libraries and List Items from Microsoft SharePoint

• Install the Mimecast Services for Exchange (MSE) software.  The software needs to be installed on a server that is your ShrePoint server farm.
• Configure MSE tasks that specify the SharePoint site and document libraries to be archived from.  Also specify the types of files you would like to archive.
• Specify an appropriate schedule for how often you would like these archiving tasks to run.
• Monitor progress through our Administrator Console web application.
• Allocate file access and viewing privileges using Active Directory groups

• Archived files can be accessed by Administrators through our Administrator Console web application
• Users can search and view files through Mimecast Services for Outlook, the Mimecast Personal Portal web application and Mimefiles for iPad.

Mimefiles provides functionality to users to help leverage more value from the archive and prevents it from becoming a static repository of unstructured data.

Accessed via our Mimefiles iPad app, users are presented with a unified view of all files and attachments stored within their archive, as well as providing important context and metadata for each of the files.

Users can view files from their email attachments in the archive, as well as files that have been synchronized through Mimecast File Archive. All files entering the archive are seamlessly available to users via Mimefiles, enabling them to:

• Identify favorite files for offline access when connectivity is not guaranteed. 
• Access key contextual and metadata information such as the ability to preview the original message content and to view the history of the email in the archive at a glance.
• Have comprehensive search and filter options available to find files quickly.
